Simple Internet Income
I’m officially launching my print book, “How I Made My First Million On The Internet and How You Can Too!” on Thursday, February 26th, 12PM EST so I’m officially busy
However here’s my quick 2 cents on how to generate internet income without confusion or fluff.
I call this “Simple Internet Income” because it IS simple, it doesn’t need to be confusing or complicated.
This can make you money but however there’s the dirty 4 letter word everyone hates: WORK!
Your choice. Or you could always pay to outsource.
Remember – it’s always the principle of Time or Money!
Before I begin, there are 3 extremely crucial principles that if applied, can make you A LOT more money…
1. Sell products that CONVERT (or you’ll waste traffic)
2. Sell stuff that SOLVE DESPERATE PROBLEMS (for fast cash)
3. Take action – consistently
Lets have a look at the plan!
Step 1: Find a profitable topic
Simplest way is to look at www.amazon.com or www.google.com/trends
Step 2: Find out what problems people have in relation to this topic
A desperate problem is best. Easy way is to go look at related forums.
Step 3: Find a suitable affiliate product that solve the problem AND convert well.
Simplest way is to go www.clickbank.com and look for the highest gravity products
in your related category. Join and get your affiliate link.
Step 4: Find at least 3 specific longtail keyphrases for the problem or product
Just use Google’s free keyword tool https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal.
For example, “how can I stop snoring”
Step 5: Write (or outsource) 3 articles
Each article should be focused on each keyphrase. 300 word article is enough. Remember the article
is NOT a sales letter, it’s a presell, a teaser
Step 6: Submit articles to article directories
Start with www.ezinearticles.com first.
Step 7: Create a free keyword-rich blog (blogger or wordpress) and post articles there
Do this after your articles are published on ezinearticles.com.
Link each article back to your articles on ezinearticles.com
You can say something like: Article originally published on xxxxxx
Step 8: Create a squidoo len and post articles there
Do this after your blog is up.
Link each article back to your articles on ezinearticles.com
You can say something like: Article originally published on xxxxxx
Step 9: Submit articles to the rest of the article directories
Link each article back to your articles on ezinearticles.com
You can say something like: Article originally published on xxxxxx
To make this really easy and effective, I suggest getting an account at SubmitYourArticle
because the service is top-notch and it works great.
Here’s a special bonus link if you’re interested. (Do NOT share)
Step 10: Social bookmark everything
And of course you can always scale this up, then rinse and repeat.
I know this looks simple but there’s a lot of insightful stuff in this strategy
Maybe I’ll create a more in-depth product on this if time permits, we’ll see.
Take care!
Ewen

February 12, 2009 | 10:58 AMThanks Ewen,
for giving out this simlpe plan. Its great advise for newbies to make the first dollars online. If you like to elaborate more on this model, I’d suggest to go deeper in the preparation process like finding that desperate problem and researching for the best keywords because I think that there most get stuck or wrong. And then use these keywords to write the articles around them. Thats a real simple, but effective method to get visitors.

February 12, 2009 | 11:38 AMDear Mr Chia,
There seems to be a missing step between 5 and 6 which is the creation of a landing page for the product to be promoted.
Ezinearticles have rejected my articles when linking directly back to a sales page from the vendor.

February 12, 2009 | 11:55 AMHi Ewen
Great post
Your first point to sell products that CONVERT is, I think, the most important.
For newbies, this means researching what people are looking for NOT what you think will sell.
I started off on that road a few years ago and wasted time and money buying products I thought would sell without checking to see what people actually wanted.
Don’t try and re-invent the wheel. What Ewen has said is what works – follow those steps to the letter and you will succeed. Oh yeah sorry it does involve work….no magic potion or button to make you rich overnight
Best wishes

February 12, 2009 | 12:51 PMEwen,
Good idea- especially if promoting one’s own product on clickbank. But as far as using affiliate links and direct linking in your article- it is against the Terms of Service of Ezine Articles to do that. It appears it can be done if you want to invest in a dedicated domain name and redirect.
What are your suggestions regarding this without “breaking” TOS or doing something sneaky.
Thanks
Barb
February 12, 2009 | 1:06 PMIt sounds really easy to follow but I have a question. It is my understanding that EzineArticles is very picky about affiliate links. Below are their guidelines.
>>>>
EzineArticles.com Editorial Guidelines: (AFFILIATE PROGRAMS):
Affiliate links will be allowed if the link is a domain name you own which forward/redirects to the affiliate link from the top-level of the domain name. For example, it is permissible to forward to an affiliate link from:
http://your-company-name.com/
…but it would not be permissible to forward to an affiliate link from:
http://your-company-name.com/page.html
http://your-company-name.com/subdirectory/
http://your-company-name.com/subdirectory/page.html
http://sub-domain.your-company-name.com/
Any article with an affiliate link that does not adhere to this guideline will cause the article to be rejected.
<<<<<
It seems to me that they would not allow the standard clickbank link – am I wrong? If that is so, do you then need a website that redirects to the product you want to promote?
Thanks for the info.
Shawn

February 12, 2009 | 2:28 PMI’m so glad you guys found this useful. As I’ve always said – keep it simple and focus.
Nice one Valeriu, yes definitely a hub page and videos will enhance the system. I did say it could be scaled up, keep your creativity coming because…
Marketing is about creativity!
Some of you mentioned about linking to affiliate links from articles and yes that’s not allowed in ezinearticles.
I never said to link to the affiliate link
Soo Ling, Barb, Martin, Ellie, what I suggest is to either use a domain redirect to your affiliate link (still allowed I believe) or build a list by linking to your squeeze page.
But remember, NOT all markets need a list.
You could get ONE domain name and create multiple sub-domains (each redirecting to affiliate link) and go from there.

February 13, 2009 | 8:36 AMHi all,
I have a question. It says create a blog in step 7. Since my focus is the fitness and health market, does the blog have to be a general one or does it have to be specific? Meaning each affiliate product needing a blog by itself?
Example: fitnessandhealth.blogspot vs burnfatquickly.blogspot

February 14, 2009 | 3:53 AMEverything sounds great, but where do you place your affiliate link? Maybe I am missing something? You can’t put an affiliate link on your Ezine Articles articles. I think it’s better to put your affiliate links on your Blogger blog, instead of linking back to your Ezine Articles. Instead, in your Ezine articles, link back to your Blogger blog, where you will have your affiliate links to the product you are promoting. Each of your articles should have a link back to your Blogger blog.
Thanks!

February 20, 2009 | 6:37 PMThanks for the step by step method to make money online. I have tried it before and this really works. I have been into internet marketing and I think that the problem with most newbies is that they are not discipline enough to follow the step by step method, or they gave up after starting the first few steps. Another problem when I first started was that there were tons of information on the web, each promising internet riches if you follow their step by step method. Which one do you join? Whom do you follow? My advice is to stick with one method that you like and follow it straight to the T, like this simple method outlined by Ewen.

February 21, 2009 | 7:00 PMHi all
In case you are wondering if this works, I can tell you that it does. I have been doing it for the past 1 year generating passive streams of online income doing this.
Kudos to Ewen for publishing this!
Whether you have a landing page or not, it still works! (I got 2 income generating projects, one with a landing page to build my list, the other without any landing page but instead linking direct to my affiliate link using a domain name. So, just buy a domain name and point to your affiliate link directly, or to your landing page if you have one, ezinearticles.com still allow this).
Also, if you picked the right niche, you will realise that your articles on ezinearticles.com will take up page 1 of google search results. I have as much as about 2-3 articles out of top 10 google search results.
Like what Ewen has said, the main challenge to this approach is WORK! So, if you are thinking of using this method, you got to move your butt, or pay someone else to move theirs for you!
Good luck to all of you!

March 4, 2009 | 9:00 PMHi Ewen and all… Great article Ewen, thx for sharing.
Could you Ewen (or someone) explain the reason for having all the articles point back to the same articles in Ezine Articles? Is it simply to create back links for the Ezine Articles (assuming they are linked back with the primary keywords as anchor text?), and therefore get the EA articles ranked higher in the SE’s?
One further thought – I think it’s important Ewen to emphasise that the 3 long-tail keywords for the articles need to have either a) healthy search numbers or b) are significant ‘buyer’ keywords focused on searchers ready to buy …identifying long-tail keywords that meet a) and b) is even better!
)
Best wishes, Steve.

I find that Blogger blogs are fast and easy to build with a choice of templates and a
http://whatevernameyouwant.blogger.com URL – no need to get a domain name – Ezine Articles
accepts that and it’s a good idea to mention something free like a short report at “link to your blog” in your resource box.

March 11, 2009 | 10:08 AMHi Ewen…
I get the bit not to use aff links in articles but the bit I don’t get is in your blog article http://internetwealth.com/training/?p=60 you refer to posting articles firstly in EA (which I get), and in various other places eg SYA, Squidoo, HubPages, etc, which all point BACK to the EA articles rather than to our own web page (which is the bit I don’t get?)…
…why do you suggest pointing all the articles BACK to the same EA articles, rather than have all articles, EA ones and all others, pointing back to our website directly? Is it simply to create back links for the Ezine Articles (assuming they are linked back with the primary keywords as anchor text?), and therefore get the EA articles ranked higher in the SE’s? Wouldn’t getting all articles linking directly to your web drive more traffic to your website rather than to the EA articles?
Could you take 30 seconds to explain?
Thanks – Steve.

March 12, 2009 | 11:44 PMSteve,
Google ranks back a lot farther then 2 links now. They will scan links up to 3, and 4 links deep.
So, the old way was Page 1 > Your Site = Authority
The new way you have to do it is Page 1 > Page 2 > Your Site = Authority
Better yet is Page 1 > Page 2 > Page 3 > Your Site = Authority
This creates deep backlinks that show Google your stuff is getting double and triple linked, thereby increasing your authority on the subject.

Here is the Answer I received from Ewan’s support desk: In all Articles Directory, EA is the Mother of Article directory. As you will get alot of traffic purely from there itself.
Another thing, when your article at EA has many views, it will help to rank the article in EA, which will get more views in the end.
If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask us, we will be happy to assist you.
